Ebay import/export (Beta) now live on ekmPowershop
Ebay traders will be happy to hear that they can quickly and easily import their products and categories from their Ebay store to their ekmPowershop, and vice versa.
ekmPowershop attracts dozens of eBay traders each month, looking to diversify their business and set up an online shop.
Now, any ekmPowershop customer with an Ebay store can import their products and categories quickly and easily through the new eBay integration. The feature also allows for products from the ekmPowershop to be populated in the eBay store.
This is a new feature still in its beta stage, so please do provide feedback if you have any problems or any suggestions for improvements.

Tell us a little about yourself/your business.
My name is Peter Botwright and I am the owner of Wested Leather Co a costume company specialising in the Film and Television industry. It is a small "family" run business employing skilled craftsmen and designers who work collectively to hand craft garments in SUEDE, LEATHER, SHEEPSKIN and CLOTH.
Why did you setup your business, and what do you hope to achieve?
In 1978 I was a maker of leather jackets and was approached to make a special jacket for Robert Mitchum by Bermans & Nathan a costume company.
They were so pleased with the result that they tested us again with Santa Claus (Dudley Moore) and then onto Star Wars, Bond films, Indiana Jones
and many more. It was not until about the mid 90’s did the world of web pages
and internet sales hit us when someone asked for an Indiana Jones Jacket.
We made a somewhat primitive web page and started selling Indiana Jones Jackets worldwide and that really took off. We no longer advertise our shop although customers are always welcome but concentrate on our web presence which is an ever growing world wide market and in which we have a niche presence which we hope will continue to grow in the future.
Why did you choose ekmPowershop.com?
It became clear that we really needed a shopping cart and having tried several bolt on carts in 2006 we opted for an ekmPowershop standard design web hosting. I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to load, alter or delete and be able to keep an itemised record of all sales.
It has grown so much that in 2008 we commissioned ekmPowershop to make a more professional custom design. It was so easy to talk with the folks creating this and getting across to them the look we wanted.
The result was more than I expected for the money and I have had many favourable comments on its design.
Do you have any "top tips" for using ekmPowershop.com, and ecommerce in general?
The art of ecommerce is a bit of a minefield and it is imperative that the
product stands out as the one people want. A professional looking webpage and Submission to search engines is essential and of course this is included in the ekmPowershop package. Communication with the buyers must be quick, with customer relations being fair; to ensure repeat or referred business in the future.
How successful has your online shop been?
Our online shop has been very successful and is now the core business with turnover having doubled in the past 3 years. We still make costumes for Film and TV but that is now a bonus and not our main income.
Would you recommend ekmPowershop.com to others?
I would, and I have done to so many of my friends who want to take the leap. ekmPowershop.com is the only one I would recommend as they have made my life so easy!
Do you have any other comments you feel might be useful?
I would thoroughly recommend ekmPowershop to others providing they are not in my line of business. Why encourage the competition! |

SEO: Are you using H1 tags?
ekmPowershop auto generates H1 tags on your product pages, derived from your product name. However for the main page, extra pages and category pages there are no H1 tags by default. This is due to the varying nature of the content you might want to include in the tag.
What is a H1 tag?
A H1 tag is very much like the headline on a newspaper page/article; it provides a quick outline of the content for your web page. Like a newspaper headline is the first thing you read when you read an article, a search engine spider will read your H1 tag before your content. The key obviously is to make the content which follows, match your H1 tag and as well as the other elements of SEO on your webpage.
Are they important?
The use of H1 tags is important for SEO - the extent to which is always debated. However it is on the list of things to do if you want your website to gain maximum exposure.

Looking Good?
Sometimes it is difficult to see your own online shop objectively. However many, if not all ekmPowershop customers will have shopped online for products. Be it for presents, commodities, essential items etc.
What made you buy?
The price is obviously a massive factor. But if you think a little further into which website you chose to buy from, isn't it commonly the most professional looking website - the one that essentially looked the best? Now apply the same method to your own website - does it look the most professional? Does it look the best? And if it did, how many more sales would you get?
